For the last 18 months all of us have been held hostage by fear. Currently we are at a stage where we wear masks, wash hands and clean surfaces, to avoid exposure to the deadly COVID-19 virus and its variants.
Rightly so.
And yet as I sit for a meal at a diner, I see the cutlery roll out of the napkin on the table top. A surface that if not clean enough would contaminate the active end of the spoon and fork and if clean would be in touch with the residue of the ‘cleaning process’. If you have to rest these utensils before the plates are brought out or in between bites during the meal you really have no choice but the tabletop to rest cutlery.
Neither of those are acceptable to me. I do not believe my thinking is unique and there are others who have thought about these concerns.
